A few weeks ago Kelly and I decided to start searching apartments for next year. Good places close to the university and town are hard to come by so when we found a gem we pounced on it. It has all the amenities we need close by: vegetable market, butcher, bakery, large grocery store, pubs and restaurants. It will be a great place to come back to after the summer in Canada.

This is Kelly's favorite part of the new place. It must be her favorite as she spends the most time here.
The kitchen, although we have move the table to get better views during meals. Notice the sweet device that washes dishes automatically without having to scrub them yourself. It's called a "dishwasher" and I've very happy to have one. To the right of the "dishwasher" is the washing machine that has yet to work. A definite source of frustration.

It has floor to ceiling windows in the sitting room to take advantage of the primo location.

The view. The River Corrib flows into Galway Bay with the old docks just out of the photo to the right. You can see the Spanish Arch on the far side of the river.

The canal joins the river just below the apartment. Since we have no TV, we have taken to following the ducks, swans, seals and pigeons that inhabit our neighbourhood.
.
Our new place has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms so anyone who wants to visit is more than welcome!!!

Before we go, let's check back with Kelly to see what she's up to:

oh Kelly, I wish I could send you my ergonomic foot rest (aka phone book taped shut). Your apartment is SCHWANKY! Please stay there for at least two more years so that I have a chance to visit!!

And Chris - I admire how once you've come home and started back at work you're blogging up a storm!! Keep it up, we're faithful (only mildly obsessed) fans...

Beautiful place you guys! How could anyone resist a visit with view like that!
And do you really need to add TV and yet another addiction into your lives? Although you could help me catch up on Coronation Street since apparently CBC had to cancel it to make room for the NHL Playoffs!
Hope the exams continue to go well or at the very least go :)
Please stop by for a visit when you are back, I will need something to distract me from obsessive yard work while Brian is away:)

In the pictures of the island of Innishmore, very interesting ppictures, Chris, but something has me guessing. The second picture looked like a field in Ab with snow on the grass or grain, but I'm sure it's not. Maybe because we had snow from Oct to May this last winter, I can't see anything else.
I'm really impressed with your new appt, would love to visit. Gram Dingman
